NOTE: Foreseen duration of this project is until 31 December 2018 subject to funds approval.

Office Assistant is based at Head Office in the Rule of Law Section of the Human Dimension Department and works under the ExB Project “Assessing Needs of Judicial Response to Corruption through Monitoring of Criminal Cases”. Under the supervision of National Project Manager, the incumbent provides translation and interpretation services as well as administrative and logistical support primarily for the Project staff.

Tasks and Responsibilities
Specific duties include:

Providing translation of the reports issued by the Project; this includes reading through original material and rewriting it in the target language, ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained;
Providing simultaneous and consecutive interpretation at various meetings, conferences, seminars, round table meetings, press conferences, press interviews, etc. including interpretation at meetings with BiH judicial offrcials and other relevant actors up to the highest level;
Supporting the Project implementation by carrying out all logistical and administrative tasks in relation to the planning and implementation of the Project;
Assisting in the planning and preparation of meetings, roundtables and other events and organising travel arrangements for the Project staff;
Translating texts and documents of legal nature including international conventions, laws, decrees, court documents, verdicts, indictments and warrants relevant to the work of the Project; this includes using specialist dictionaries, thesauruses and reference books to find the closest equivalents for terminology and words used;
Providing other written translations including official and informal correspondence between the Project staff/Head of Rule of Law and Judges and Prosecutors of BiH Courts and other relevant actors;incoming and outgoing documents addressed to the Project; this includes researching legal, technical and scientific phraseology to find the correct translation;
Performing other duties as assigned.

Znanja i kvalifikacije:
Necessary Qualifications

Secondary education, supplemented by formal training/studies in translation/interpretation and office administration;
Minimum three (3) years of work experience as an interpreter or translator, preferably with the diplomatic seryice, international organizations or judiciary;
Established clerica/secretarial/administrative experience including knowledge of modern office procedures;
Some project support experience; knowledge of the rule of law and judicial reform would be an advantage;
Computer literate with practical experience in Microsoft applications;
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and in the local language.

Remuneration Package
Monthly remuneration, subject to social security deductions is 2,052.42 BAM/month. Social benefits will include participation in the Cigna health insurance scheme and the OSCE Provident Fund.

Appointments are normally made at step 1 of the applicable OSCE salary scale. At the discretion of the appointing authority a higher step may be approved up to a maximum of step 3 subject to specific conditions.
