The MEAL Assistant is responsible for providing technical monitoring and evaluation support to program teams and overseeing all MEAL plans for programs. These responsibilities include but are not limited to application of monitoring and evaluation tools, participating in surveys and/or evaluations, data entry, analysing and reporting quantitative and qualitative M&E data. The MEAL Assistant is expected to regularly visit field areas. S/he will also participate in learning and reflection activities to improve project quality, monitor results and impact, share lessons learned, and ensure that accountability and other cross-cutting issues are adequately incorporated into project and MEAL activities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

Education to MSc/MA level in relevant subject areas of social science, development studies, statistics, or other relevant area. Bachelor’s degree with additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a Master’s degree;
1 – 3 years of experience in Monitoring and Evaluation of projects and/or programs and experience in social research and application of analytical methods for measuring program and project performance.
Experience in data collection, data management, and analysis is highly desirable.
Familiarity and comprehension with database designs and management.
Strong computer skills with knowledge of data analysis software such as STATA, SPSS, SAS and MS-Office (in particular Excel).
Demonstrated report writing skills.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Ability in relating with staff, partners and government authorities.
Commitment to the aims and principles of Save the Children, the organisational mandate and child focus including child safeguarding.
Desirable

1-2 Years preferably in emergency and humanitarian context.
Contract length: 12 months including obligatory probation period.
