Job Title: Finance Officer

ToR of employment:
• SSS (high school diploma);
• Duration of the probation period is 3 months;
• The contract is a fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension.

Overall Purpose of the Job
The Finance Officer will assist the Support Services Manager (SSM) in all financial matters related to the MAG Bosnia and Herzegovina programme.

Detailed Responsibilities
• Ensure that all documentation for payment requests are complete, accurate and duly approved in compliance to the programmes SOP’s.
• Manage Petty Cash for the MAG Bosnia and Herzegovina Programmee and ensure regular cashcounts are completed and balanced to the Cashbooks.
• Manage the working relationships with local bank ensuring that adequate funds are received promptly and regular reconciliations are made to bank statements etc.
• Enters all transactions in the Cash Book in a timely manner, properly validated / sent and sent to SSM on the first business day of the following month. Ensure accuracy and timely submission of sectors monthly Cashbooks sent to SSM for consolidation.
• Ensure that all Cashbooks are thoroughly checked, all expenditure duly coded to the relevant natural, cost centre, project & account codes and supported by an active Grant before passing them on to the SSM.
• Complete monthly PSF Payroll template from supporting Payroll sheets received from HR and Admin Manager. Ensure all payroll data is accurately recorded on the Payroll templates and balanced to the Payroll monthly totals.
• Ensure that all supporting documents are filed in a logical manner for easy retrieval and access.
• Ensure that all Finance documents are properly archived in accordance with Finance Department policy.
• Assist the SSM with accounting, budgeting and all other financial/accounting activities as directed.
• Deputize for the SSM as and when required.

General Responsibilities
• Work within the framework of MAG’s core values
• Act as an ambassador for MAG
• Contribute to other fundraising initiatives where appropriate.
• Participate in meetings where relevant.
• Work in compliance with MAG’s Policies, including but not limited to,Equal Opportunities, Code of Conduct and Dignity at Work Policies.
• Undertake and apply learning from appropriate training and development programmes.
• Undertake any other duties as may be required

Person selection criteria
The post holder should be able to demonstrate the following attributes:
• An understanding of NGOs and a commitment to humanitarian work.
• Fluency in English.
• Advanced numeracy and accounting skills
• Experience processing payroll, Cash books and management of cash flow.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word and computerised spreadsheets.
• Problem solving and initiative.
