Call for Applications: Consultancy on Fundraising Plan and Proposal Development for Network for Building Peace

The Network for Building Peace (www.mreza-mira.net) is currently supported by the PeaceNexus Foundation (http://peacenexus.org/) on its organisational development and has identified the development of a fundraising strategy as a key priority for the Peace Network’s sustainability and transition towards a professional support structure. Through the processes and capacities supported through this consultancy, the Network aims to obtain funding for its core functions.

The role of the consultant(s) will be to facilitate and support the Network for Building Peace in strengthening its proposal development capacities and developing a concrete fundraising plan that is systemically moving the Peace Network towards its long-term vision

Objectives of the assignment and deliverables
The overall objective of this role is to ensure that the Peace Network has the financial resources to deliver on its mission to move, strengthen and connect initiatives and peacebuilding activities in BiH and region.

The specific objectives of the consultancy are:

To articulate the vision of the future of the Peace Network and shape its fundraising plan accordingly
Strengthen the Peace Network’s capacities in proposal development by supporting the drafting of specific proposals and providing feedback/mentoring support.
The consultant(s) is expected to:

– Facilitate the reflection, consultation on and development of:

a brief articulation of the Peace Network organisational purpose (1 page) based on a Peace Network’s Theory of Change (ToC) that draws on previous member engagement and research, and is informed by evidence of the Peace Network’s impact (to be collected from members);
a proposal on how to develop its fundraising plan accordingly; long-term recommendations regarding the Network financial sustainability, including a strategy for tapping into institutional donors.
– Support the Peace Network in the drafting and implementation of ensuing fundraising products and activities including by:

Drafting of a funding proposal (template to draw on) and ‘sales pitch’ elements for future fundraising efforts.
Providing actionable recommendations including on how to embed fundraising in the Peace Network (Secretary; Executive Board; Working Group, Coordinator) and how to follow-up on the developed fundraising plan.
Duration and timeframe
The timeframe for the assignment is from December 1, 2017 to March 1, 2017 (estimate: 30 days of work). The consultant(s) will write an inception report, reflecting on the understanding of the task and providing the Peace Network with a detailed work plan. The consultant(s) will be provided with technical and logistical support from the Peace Network’s Secretariat and OD Committee.

Profile and qualifications
This consultancy requires a highly motivated, analytical, forward thinking, and experienced professional specializing in proposal development and fundraising. Experience in working with networks and capacity building, and a solid background in peacebuilding are key. They are expected to have a strong track record in facilitating organisational change in network settings, and evidence that their efforts in supporting organisations in developing their fundraising approach have led to measurable results.

Note: The consultancy will be open to one consultant encompassing all the expertise and experience required under this ToR, or for teams of consultants combining the different required skills. If you are partnering with another consultant, please indicate how you would divide the work.

Znanja i kvalifikacije:
Essential qualifications:

Fundraising experience in an organisational setting and/or in an advisory capacity (including fundraising strategy development, extracting evidence of organisational impact, communication material and proposal development);
Sound and current knowledge of the current funding and business environment (peacebuilding related) in the Western Balkans (ideally of the BiH context); familiarity with fundraising cycles, proposal formats and application procedures of key donors;
Demonstrated success in preparing proposals and grant applications;
Strong understanding of and experience with Theory of Change development;
Excellent command (written verbal) of English and fluency in BHS;
Energetic, consultative and flexible in advisory approach, able to work individually and with a team, and with excellent communication skills.
Desirable qualifications:

Knowledge of the peacebuilding challenges faced by civil society in Bosnia and Herzegovina;
Familiar with the identity and work of the Network for Building Peace and its members.
Submission package
The submission/proposal should provide the following information:

Letter of motivation stating why the consultant(s) are suitable for the work outlined, and how they would approach the assignment (proposed methodology).
Financial proposal comprising detailed quotation for the assignment, showing working days and expected fee/anticipated days, availability as well as any other relevant expense.
CV including relevant work experience and qualifications.
Only proposals including all of the above information will be reviewed, and the decision will be taken based on interviews.
