In 2018 and 2019 Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has been facing an increasing influx of migrants, asylum seekers and refugees after previously popular migration routes to Western Europe through the Balkans shut down in 2017. Arrival trends since the beginning of 2019 remained steady at 150-200 new refugees and migrants in BiH per week, increasing however in March and April to more than 500 new refugees and migrants per week. This represents a 40% increase to the average weekly arrivals in February 2019 while, in comparison to same period last year, similar figures were recorded for the entire month of March of 2018.
