Forum Ziviler Friedensdienst / Forum Civil Peace Service (forumZFD) is a German civil society organisation that is active in the field of peacebuilding, dealing with the past (DwP)/ transitional justice (TJ), enhancing a culture of peace and nonviolence. Through its head-office in Cologne and projects in Germany, the Middle East, the Western Balkans and Southeast Asia, forumZFD is involved in establishing sustainable peace processes through civil society development. The main fields of activity of forumZFD in the Western Balkans and in Bosnia and Herzegovina are DwP and non-formal peace education.
For its office in Sarajevo, forumZFD is seeking a full-time project coordinator with citizenship of Bosnia and Herzegovina resp. valid working permit for BiH. The project coordinator will support the activities of the Sarajevo office in the area of DwP and closely cooperate with the colleagues of forumZFD in Sarajevo. Current activities in BiH are related to DwP and culture of remembrance, non-formal education, publication of DwP-related website and magazine as well as activities linking academia and practice in the field of DwP. Further, the project coordinator is expected to liaise with organisations and initiatives in entire BiH and beyond and support the team in fundraising activities. This position is an assistant position to the project managers.
In particular, the candidate will perform following duties:
support staff at Sarajevo office in its DwP activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including in project design, implementation and evaluation, and in related administrative tasks
coordinate various activities in direct cooperation with forumZFD and partner organizations
monitor socio-political developments in BiH and assess their potential impact for forumZFD
develop new ideas and initiate contacts, explore possibilities for cooperation and activities
assess potential fundraising opportunities and assist in drafting proposals
perform other duties as required
Required Skills and Education:
university degree in social or political sciences
experience in the field of Dealing with the Past/Transitional Justice
experience in project cycle management
team player with excellent communication skills, with social and intercultural competencies
open minded and self-initiative
knowledge of the political and social environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans, with a deep understanding of current issues and challenges regarding the implementation of activities in the field of DwP/TJ
fluent in written and spoken English and B/C/S; German language skills are considered an asset
strong computer skills
work experience in NGO sector as well as fundraising experience is considered a strong asset
driving licence B category
We offer
A full time job and a starting net salary of BAM 1.000 plus coverage of all social benefits.
Duration: March/April 2016 – December 2017
A contract extension is possible if further funding of the position will be secured.
