Position

Serving as the point of contact between the organization and its public, this position's primary responsibility is to develop and implement communication strategies by using all forms of media and communication to build, maintain and manage the reputation of the organization.

Having a very good overview on and a network in the media landscape in BiH, the Communication Manager will transport key messages to defined target audiences in order to establish and maintain goodwill, thus significantly contributing to the development of the brand and the profile of the organization in the market. S/he will monitor publicity, conduct research and will use a wide range of media to build and sustain good relationships between the organization and its clients through planned publicity campaigns and PR activities in both the daily business and during periods of crisis.

The Communication Manager will create, implement and oversee communication programs, internal or external, that effectively describes and promotes the organization and its services ensuring its messages are consistent.

This role also provides supervision and direction to staff and works in conjunction with the marketing function of the organization. The Communication Manager directs publicity programs and campaigns, improves public image of the organization, and clarifies the organization's point of view on important issues.

The role requires effective and highly developed interpersonal & communication skills, and has to be well informed on general media, political, economic and social situation in BiH. Ideally the candidate should be well introduced in and have access to the daily political situation, thus being „invisible“ but omnipresent.

In addition the Communication Manager must aid in the preparation of presentations and/or speeches, so a strong writing skills and public speaking background is necessary.

A knowledgeable background in the financial sector can be to one´s advantage.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing an integrated communications strategy for the organization, incorporating PR & Marketing.
  • Developing and maintaining the organization's corporate image and identity, which includes the use of logos and signage.
  • Implementing communication plans to increase brand awareness and recognition for the organization.
  • Monitoring press stories relating to the company and its brand and maximizing opportunities for positive PR as well as handling any negative PR.
  • Manage an organization's reputation with the public in general and clients.
  • Draft speeches for company executives, and arrange interviews and other forms of contact for them.
  • Researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media.
  • Dealing with enquiries from public, press, and related organizations
  • Identifying main client groups and audiences and determine the best way to communicate publicity information to them.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with media representatives.
  • Observing and reporting on social, economic and political trends that might affect the organization.
  • Liaising with and answering enquiries from media, individuals and other organizations.

Qualifications

This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual with already gained knowledgeable background and experience in the field of PR and Corporate Communication, and a proven ability to lead communications strategies in organizations.

A highly articulate individual with excellent written communications and presentation skills are essential. The Communication Manager should also possess a wide network of acquaintance in media and public figures, if possible opinion makers.

In addition to needing the ability to prioritize and plan effectively, the candidate should demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to influence across the organization and externally. Showing awareness of different media agendas, being proactive and well-structured, will lead to an early addressing of detected trends to the Management Board.

Specific requirements include:

professional:

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent, preferably in a communications related subject
  • At least 5+ years experience working in the field of communications and ability to demonstrate knowledge of a broad range of communications activities – media, websites, publications, marketing, social media, events, etc.
  • Proven and demonstrable experience of working with a wide range of media, developing media strategies and relations, preparing press releases, etc.
  • Proven and demonstrable experience of editing and producing publications
  • Experience in working with websites, including web development, producing content for the web
  • Proven experience working with social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
  • Computer literate with good MS Office skills
  • Sound command of written and oral English.
